English: We have been making connections as we read our books. We are trying to make connections between our stories and our own lives. We are also trying to make connections between books. We finished our narrative stories and they have been written out in booklets for others to read! We learned a poem about Winter and a poem called 'Kangeroo Goes Hopping'. We were practising filling in sentences that have words missing and we were also practising using commas. We have a vocabulary wall in the class. The students find words in books that they don't know and we put them on the vocabulary wall. Some of them are very tricky but the class are making great attempts to use them in their writing and their speaking.
SESE: We had a busy month of SESE in Novemeber. The children worked in teams to complete a project on Australia. The found lots of information all by themselves and working together to produce a final draft of their project. They covered topics such as weather, food, history, animals and culture. We wrote reports about Koalas and we did some aboroginal art. We had a very enjoyable Science week in school and numerous tasks were completed. We also did an experiment with light and shadows to find items that were transparent, translucent and opaque!
