English: Making predictions when reading. Making pictures and videos in our heads as we are reading. Poems: October, The Land of the Bumbley Boo. We were doing lots of writing about a variety of topics including our houses, recounts and writing sentences with adjectives. All of the students are trying hard to write more information in their sentences. For grammar, we are always trying to remember spaces between words and this month we were learning about using exclamation marks.
Maths: We are continuing to improve our speed at adding and subtracting numbers. We have also practised adding ten to numbers. Recently, we have been learning out shapes. We measured some shapes in the yard and we even used our bodies to make shapes!
Gaeilge: This month we have been learning some songs: Hocaí Pocaí, Buail ar an doras. We also watched a story in Irish called 'An Madra Santach'. We were also practising how to count in Irish and asking each other about our families in Irish.
SESE: We were learning about different types of houses, the swallow, we interview people about school in the past. In the next two weeks, we will be learning more about Autumn.
Art/Music: We made houses using Lego, drew pictures from the story 'Where the Wild Things are', created our own imaginary land and made swallows. In music, we practised making music in groups and tried to express ourselves through music.
PE: We continued to play playground games and in the last two weeks we have practised rugby. We learned that you must pass the ball behind you.
