We have been working on the theme of 'Myself' for the first few weeks of the year. Here are some of the things we have been working on.
English: We wrote about ourselves and our summer holidays, we discussed parts of the body, we discussed positive adjectives to describe people and we wrote about our timeline from the past (History). Reading strategy- Predicting. We are making predictions about what is going to happen next in the story. Phonics- 'ing', 'ack' ,-all. Poem: The Land of the Bumbley Boo.
Maths: We are doing lots of work with number. We are playing games to help us remember sums. We are learning about the partners that go together for certain numbers and we are also learning some tricks which will help us to get the answers faster.
Gaeilge: We are learning about Mé Féin (myself). We have been learning some new words and phrases such as Cé hé tusa?, Cá bhfuil tú ina chonaí?, Cé mhéad duine i do chlann?
SESE: My family, how things have changed, five senses, houses.
SPHE: Body parts, taking care of my body.
PE: Playground games
Art: We made passports with personal facts about ourselves. We drew self portraits after mixing paints to find our skin colour. We used junk art to create characters. We will be using junk art soon to make houses. If there are any old boxes lying around, don't be afraid to send them in!
